The Truth About Vitamin C in Skin Care

l’m often asked why I don’t have a Vitamin C serum or cream in the Her Soul Intention Skin Care line. There is a reason for that, so let’s talk about Vitamin C in skin care…

All of the vitamins and nutrients in my skin care products come from the plants that are in my formulations. Personally, I do not believe that adding isolated, synthetic vitamins and nutrients to any skin care product has a benefit.

Isolated vitamins are very rarely “natural” like companies claim them to be – these vitamins are highly processed and are created in a lab. Through manufacturing, the vitamins go through a process that strips them of their pure, potent healing benefits and values, altering and changing them from their pure form.

Vitamin C is often used in skin care as Ascorbic Acid or Ascorbyl Palmitate (a synthetic ester of Ascorbic Acid and Palmitic Acid). However, Ascorbic Acid is actually an organic acid, and not even real Vitamin C.

Extracting pure Vitamin C from any plant is a highly unstable process, and by the time the “Vitamin C” is added to a skin care product or supplement, it is no longer Vitamin C in its true, pure form.

By isolating Vitamin C in skin care or supplements, you are not benefiting the skin or body in the exact way that you are led to believe. The reasoning for this, is not just because of the unstable process that the ingredients have to go through, but also because in order for Vitamin C to be truly beneficial and absorbed by the skin and the body, it needs to be combined with the other essential vitamins, nutrients, and compounds from the original plant that it’s extracted from, which at this point, are no longer available to you.

The best way to support the skin with Vitamin C is by consuming the plant itself, so rather than following the current trend of using unnatural vitamin C serums, I highly recommend consuming your vitamin C internally, via whole organic foods, like lemons, grapefruits and oranges. These are going to benefit your skin and your body far more than any processed, synthetic ingredient or supplement ever will!

To think that nature can be manipulated and replicated is one of the most lucrative lies that exists!
